Zambia Project

Zambia, or officially the Republic of Zambia, is a country found at the crossroads of Central, Southern, and East Africa.

The capital city of Zambia is Lusaka, which is located in the south-central part of Zambia.

The current estimated population of the country is 20,216,029, with Zambian population concentrated mainly around the South of the capital and to the North within the Copperbelt Province, which are the core economic hubs of the country.

This country used to be known as Northern Rhodesia from 1911 to 1964, until it gained its independence from British rule on October 1964 that they changed it to Zambia. It has many ethnic groups, comprised approximately around 73 with mostly speaking Bantu. 

After gaining their independence, the country had to go through economic and political instabilities. Rural poverty rates were about 76.6%, with about 54.4% of Zambians living below the poverty line based from studies conducted last 2015.

The country also has an on-going problem of access to clean, drinkable water. USAID, under it’s globalwater.org initiative, has Zambia on their high priority country last 2021.

USAID is working with partners in Zambia to:

•  Increase access to basic water services for 1.5 million people
• Provide basic sanitation to 1.5 million people
• Strengthen 150 water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) institutions
• Mobilize roughly $5 million of private investments for the WASH sector.

Although recognized as a Christian country through the European colonialism, many are still in need of hearing the gospel of Jesus Christ, particularly in the rural areas. Literacy and primary health care are also an opportunity for smaller and remote communities outside the capital city.

ACG Church, with the leadership of Pastor Nick and Pastora Joy Rojas, are partnering with a local church in Zambia, to provide aid, assist in having access to clean and drinkable water, and also lead revival to Christians in the country.

ACG, with the help of volunteers, are extending whatever help they can to communities that do not have immediate access to physical, emotional, and spiritual help.
